Hi Everyone

Casey has a little lump and hair loss around it just over her left shoulder.
I've had her to the vet in the summer and they thought it would grow back and that the lump was just a bug bite or something.

Now it's even more hairless but hasn't changed size. She was in to see the Vet last week and he was concerned that her micro chip had moved or that she was having a reaction to it.
His chip checker was out of battery's so she goes back on Saturday for another check to locate the chip.

Have any of you heard of dogs having a reaction to the chip or that they can migrate?
I think I will have him remove the lump if the chip is under it otherwise I'm stumped as to whether or not to put her through the anesthetic.

Thoughts???

Thanks Bevandcasey

Hmmm, that's really odd Bev! I am at a loss! I have never heard of microchips migrating if placed correctly but it is possible.

The only other thing I can think of is if it is the site of a vaccination that she reacted too. Tally has a perminant bump just above her right shoulder on the neck from a shot she got before I owned her. My vet gives their shots seperately and at different sides and times so that he can monitor their reaction and not overload their immune systems.

I will look into this more when I have a chance!

Hey Lys

I've been wondering about that....shot issue.

She had iv last year for a tummy ailment and of course the shots.

I've since heard that one of the chip companies has gone out of business I'm not sure why but I'l dig a bit farther and find out if it was from faulty materials.

Any ideas if the hair will ever grow back? And...what about having it removed? Seems a bit drastic if it's just a little skin trauma.

We'll see tomorrow at the Vet's

I really can't imagine that would have anything to do with it-if they had faulty materials it would most likely mean that the chips themselves stopped working or scanner issues.

Migration can and does occur with any implant no matter what the size, even when implanted by an experience vet, but it is pretty rare.

If the vet doesn't find anything with the chip, I'd want to make sure it wasn't cancerous with a biopsy but your vet will know best. I'm going to look up more on this and let you now-be sure to let me know what the vet says!

Had to cancel the vet appt. because my mom has had a spell so I'm off to take care of her for the qeekend.
We travel through the mountains so we put peppermint oil behind her ears otherwise she cries from the pressure.

She has a new appointment when we get back.
Thanks Lys
