We have a Mountain Lion on the prowl right here! Our neighbor has moved back in to the house next door to our back lot. He's been renting it out for 6 years, and he came over last night to warn us he sees it up on the high road between 8 P.M. and 8:15 every single night 60 feet from our house on a trail. I know we have a lot bears, but I pray they sleep in with the hybernate thing. LOL

But I wonder where the lion is before and after this time. Maybe coming over our fence to or from the creek!?! This is more freakie than a bear!

We don't know what to do because we called a Mt. Lion in we saw on the highway overlook a year ago; the Fish and Game said there's so many of them, blah, blah, blah... :???: And that one was where road construction goes on all time, and the Pacific Crest Trail is directly below that spot, the beach, a bicycle route, etc. Recently there was a front page story about a bicyclist was chased by one on the jogging trail. I think they took care of that one. It's hard to know what to do about it while wondering if it's a man chaser. :?:  Anyone else ever have to deal with this problem? Barb

Thanks Renata, we're being careful. Only Sheba goes out by herself--until now. Terry's sister and husband just left our house, and he has a wilderness pack station and is a wildlife expert. He said since the lion is 70-80 pounds and keep such a tight schedule, it's a young one and is looking for cats and dogs! I wish Sheba would use a potty pad or just go in the house somewhere.

Oh my goodness! Be very careful! That is scary barb! we really don't have problems with mountain lions here in GA. Mostly coyotes, racoons, hawks, .....nothing like a Mt. LION!!! Although we came home the other day, and our Koi fish pond has been wiped out! Josh and I had worked so hard on raising these little guys , and they were growing quite large and even eating from your hand. Well, needless to say they were eaten by something. Probablly a Blue Heron bird, or racoon....yikes huh :( we were quite upset about the whole ordeal.
A Mt. lion is scary for your doggies, though! I can't beleive you have bears that close too! You must be around alot of wilderness. Well, you keep an eye out for that guy, and let us know if you see him!

Oh, poor fishies! That is terrible!

The other day on the news, they showed a Bobcat that had been killed on the highway and that sucker was BIG! They estimated it to weigh between 35-40 lbs., easily chihuahua-eater size! I can't imagine a Mt. Lion!

Amber, the Accounts Payable lady at Three Dog grew up with big cats because her mother has a licensed rescue center. Since her mother is retired, she "only" has one indoor bobcat (lives with them!) and a Mt. Lion in a large enclosure. Both cats came from people who had purchased them illegally for pets and then dumped them when they grew up and grew into the wild animals that they are!
