Elle is getting spayed tomorrow. :( We were told to have her there between 9 and 12, so we will keep her with us in the car until 11:45. :-? I'm tempted to beg to bring her home in the evening, but I suppose it's best he checks her the following morning, especially where we're two hours away. We'll also have her hernia, or what ever it is, checked/repaired.
I have my pics back, and I have a great pic of the lump that was on her tummy. I took it the day before it went away, so it's smaller, but the vet might like to see this. It's still huge in the picture even after it had gone down.
We are going to miss her.

Oh little Miss Elle!
We will be praying for a speedy recovery from your surgery. I know Mommy will be so worried. Love and puppy kisses from your boyfriends the H2's.

Kisses and good wishes to Miss Elle! I'm sure she will do just fine and be home soon-although a night feels like forever! Will the vet let you bring a blanket or her favorite soft toy to sleep with? That will make her feel safer and more comfortable during her overnight stay.

I hated handing the girls over for their spaying. They are so young and Gracie had never been away from home for even one second. Sammi had been at the emergency vet overnight before her spay but also had never been without her Mommy otherwise.
But I know little Elle will be fine and your vet will be able to take a good look around to make sure that the bad bumpy lumpy never ever comes back to bother your baby again.

Thanks for the support Renata, Lilblizzardchic, Faye and Lys. :) Now we have to wait until 9 am to see if we even get to bring her home today. She may have to stay another night, depending on what they find with the lump, so we were told not head down the road before 9. When we dropped her off and took the picture in, she said something's not right and clipped it to the chart for the doctor. We planned on being there at 9 to get her, now it will be 11. I just can't wait. :blob2: It's too quiet around here without her and the potty pads are so empty. LOL We took Roman and Sheba to the park for a long walk and hoped to tire him out, so he wouldn't miss her. He really seemed bothered all night. When we got home, I went to take him out of the car and leash him up for a walk in the yard, but he wouldn't come to me. He hid on over on the driver's seat out of my reach. I know he thinks I forgot Elle in her crate in the back seat; He was telling me to get her first, and then he would come to me. LOL He's going to be so glad to see her.

Thanks for thinking of Ellie, you guys. :) I wrote this last night, but the weather's been very active with lots of lightening and thunder, snow, hail, power outages, etc., and I swear, each time I log on to post, lightening hits. LOL I unplug the computer and phone so they don't get blown out. So I'll hurry because it's starting again. LOL... :) Yea, fun weather until Monday night!
1/7/05 Friday...Elle was able to come home today. She is doing fine as can be expected (tired and a little droopy) but with a nice, clean-looking, tiny scar on her tummy with 5 stitches which she'll get out next Friday. She's had two small dinners and some water. She's very hungry, but we were told to feed small meals and to warm up the water a little.
She rode on my lap on the way home. It was snowing as we got closer to home, so she was wrapped in two blankets. Then we got home, I picked her up off of my lap and must have hurt her because she threw her head back and just about split my lip open. LOL LOL She's been alseep ever since excpet when we give her a kiss. She doens't really want to give kisses yet, but did manage one for each of us.
At first, she was grouchy on the way home towards Roman and bit his nose when he tried to smell her and say hi to her, but he just looked at her and didn't really care; he's glad she is home, and so is she.
As for her lump, there was no hernia. :-? So we are to watch it close and bring her back if it occurs again. If he had explored that particular area, it would have been an entire seprate surgery and too much for her to handle at once. If it had been the hernia, it would have only been through the same incision and one "inner wall" for the repair and the same incision. This risk over-ruled the "too much anestesia for a small dog" rule. So she is fine and we are to get her in if and when it appears again.

HI Lys, When we've boarded our other big dogs for days or a week when we took vacations, they have reccomended that they don't have pillows and blankets from home since many dogs have ate entire toys, pillows and blankets out of nervousness of being there. But after you posted this, I thought since it was only for a night, I'd ask if she could have her blanket before her surgery. It turned out she didn't need it. She had to wait less than 30 minutes for her surgery. They have a new blanket oven and they keep the dogs and cats in warmed towels before and after surgery. It worked out great. :)

Hey Barb,
How's our little patient doing? We've been thinking about her and praying she'll have a speedy recovery. Hopefully by now she's feeling a little more like herself.

Barb your vet sounds amazing, they seem to know exactly what they are doing and are very safe with your pooches. The blanket oven sounds great.
Did the vet have any suggestions as to what the lump was if its not a hernia?
Its good to know Elle is at home and doing ok. Give her a kiss from me

Thanks, she's doing great and just a little hunched when she walks. :) She's all lovie with Roman again. :)
Renata, Ellie's doing very good and very cuddlie with us. She still hasn't cried, but a few small wimpers. Her and Roman thought they would play last night, and it hurt her, so I stopped them. Then again this morning, she head-butted Roman to get things stirred up, but I stopped it again...mean mommy. So now they're cuddled up next to me.
Terri, Elle says thanks so much for the kiss. There's no idea as to what the lump was. I even watched it to see if it changed after potty time, eating etc., and nothing affected it. So we're just going to wait and see and if necessary, do tests. If I can ever get the picture disc figured out or the scanner working, I'll post a picture of when this lump thing she had. (I'm getting closer to that too. ;-) ) My picture of Roman and Elle that I want to post are starting to pile up here.
