What face cream do you use and does it work wonders?

I voted for midrange.
I use a 3 step one that has 3 different tubes, one is a suncream moisturising for under makeup, the other is for night time eye wrinkle remover (although im pretty sure its not doing its job) and the other for skin and pore tightener on the face.
Im not sure if I want to pay for an expenisive one because im not sure if they would work any better. Some people have told me that plain old sorbelene cream works just as good as all the rest of them.
What works for everyone else ?

I use the midpoint range but have tried lots from cheap to expensive...I have found that Oil of Olay has the best moisturizer for my skin that hydrates it without causing it to get greasy toward the end of the day or break out. I used to use some super face cream last year from my dermatalogist (his own line) and it was $40 per little jar-and it made my face oily and break out! My old dermatalogist said that I should experiment around and use what worked the best for me, that he could recommend two or three options in each price range and I should decide. That's pretty much all I use right now though and I'd love any suggestions on good under-eye and wrinkle creams (you can never start too early if you ask me!). Any suggestions?

I use a cream that is probably expensive but it is the only thing that works for me. It was developed in Japan and has an olive oil base. I have extremely dry skin and some rosacea. They sell in the US now and have a website dhccare.com They have many products and any I have used were great and worth the money. I use their mild Face Wash and their White Cream. My face just flakes away without their products.

I'm going to try Oil of Olay because I used to use their Foundation and it really worked for me but they took it off the shelves in my town because it wasn't selling.
I'm an aesthetician from a former life and some of the models I used to do make-up for used Preperation H under their eyes to reduce wrinkles before a photo shoot.

Hi Terri, Oh! Skin care products. I love it! I started using skin care in my teens, and I think it paid off. I suppose I used mid range when I used it. I sold "Jafra" Products (Jan and Frank Day....lol)...oh goodness!! in 1979 with the first "royal bee jelly" and the enite cleansing/night products. Everyone wanted it! lol It was expensive, $29.00 for a little 1 ounce bottle, and selling it was the only way I could get it at a good price. I was a lousy sales pitch since I wanted to only give it away and hated to give those "parties". LOL I wonder if royal bee jelly is still around. lol
Then I sold Avon for years a few times, and they developed the AHA (alpha hydroxy) creme and turned it loose on the market while I was selling it mid 90's. But none really compared and is still overpriced to Avon's for the same thing. Some of it's in the $90.00 range and redicoulious for that price. Some is too cheap and full of too much parifin wax. I sold tons of it, and it works, for what it does. But it was/is too harsh for my skin and broke me out. :-?
So now I only use a UV protection in my foundation make up and stay out of the sun as much as possible. And I only use Neutrogena cleansing wash. :)
Eye cremes for night are wonderful as well as anything that feels good on your skin. I think lavish up the epidermis! Treat it well, but it doesn't have to cost a fortune. A complet skin care regimine is important (if that's what you want) and for sure UV PROTECTION IS A MUST. JMHO oH NO! SOUNDS LIKE I'M STILL SELLING. LOL I'm not, just believe in routine care for skin. lol

I hate to say it but I'm cheap when it comes to face creams, shampoo, etc.. I use Equate version of Oil of Olay and whenever Clinque has a bonus and you get a free little jar of that 'yellow stuff' I like it. For some reason I can't get myself to buy expensive creams or shampoos. Funny I'll spend lots of money on other things, but I've never been that way with most cosmetic products. Luckily, I have good skin and most people never guess that I'm as old as I am.

Renata, How do you like the Equate over Oil of Olay? I just bought Equate face wash today instead of Neutrogena. I've used this before, but never tried their other products. I'm all for saving at half price. ;-)

I use Skinceuticals illuminating mask and a lightening serum to remove freckles and slight discoloration from sun damage...mainly because I went through a "lazy phase" and now my skin is showing it! (When I think of how I used to actually put BABY OIL on and then sit on the beach all day, I just cringe!)
For cleanser and moisturizer, it's Lancome...just because it's nummy and it makes me feel good! (I doubt it works any better than the stuff you could get at Target, but it's one of my little indulgences...well, that and chocolate....!)

I SWEAR by Proactive. I realized I was getting wrinkles and STILL getting zits. So I did something about it. They have a great line with anti-wrinkle creams. Best stuff I have ever used, and I have tried it all.

Barb,
I've really liked all of the equate stuff that I've tried and can't tell a difference and I'm saving money too!

I used to swear by the high end products. I was addicted to La Prairie and also used Prescriptives, Channel etc, until last winter. We went up to our home in Steamboat and I forgot ALL of my facial products. I was forced to buy replacements at the grocery store. I choose the new "Dove" daytime and nighttime creams - cuz I love the soap. I'll tell you what, I never went back to those expensive brands. My skin has never looked or felt better and I'm saving major amounts of money. I should have listened to my grandmother who uses Oil of Olay, another great and inexpensive product, and looks 20 years younger than her actual age.- truly!!!!

Hi Emilystrange, you made me laugh. Wrinkles AND Zits. That's where I'm at in the scheme of things too. I thought once I got old enough to get wrinkles I would stop getting zits but...it's like I'm a teenager again.:cry2:

Thanks 2Chiwawa! This is a terrible place to be, isn’t it! Zits and Wrinkles. I thought that went away at 30! Makes you want to crawl under a rock. But the proactive is good stuff and it staves away the hormonal zits! Sorry, I know I sound like a commercial.

EmilyStrange, I've wanted to get proactive so bad for years! I always see their infomercials on tv and the product just looks so wonderful!!

If your skin isn’t too sensitive, equate has a version of proactive: Acne Free. I hear its great, but I react to mysterate in creams. So I can’t use it. I LOVE the equate versions of most everything. That is one of the ONLY products that I have ever seen a difference in the ingredient lists between the real stuff and the equate.

Hi Emily, I wonder if that's what I react to. I especially can't wear any sun screens and thought it was the PABA, but really, I get reactions to all creams.

That could be it. They put that stuff in everything. I read about it in a book AFTER I had tore myself up with Ultama’s “glotion.” That stuff FELT so good, but it turned me into a monster for about a month. I get big pussy zits if I get into mysterate. It’s an “emulsifier.” It makes creams feel slick.
If PABA tears you up, zinc oxide is a good physical sun block and almost no one reacts to it.
I suggest you check the labels of what has bothered you in the past. Then you can avoid it in the future.
Note: not all alcohols are bad for your skin (some may dry, but they shouldn’t tear you up), and without preservatives—face cream would ROT before you got to use is. Don’t be intimidated by the big long names. Just compare them to the names in other products and hunt for the commonalities. (I’m a chemist and I couldn’t tell you what those things are without looking it up!)
Good luck! I know I tried EVERYTHING!!!!

In the April issue of Vogue Magizine, there's a card sample of Lancome Renergie Microlift "active redefining treatment lifting, firming, anti wrinkle." it feels nice. And take the card to your Lancome Counter and receive a free 10 day supply. I don't see any catches on that either. :D
I've never sat at a counter for a trial of make-up, and probably because I've seen funny things about it in movies where the beauty expert does one side of the face--all made up--and then says she'll finish the other side only if you buy the product. LOL :w00t: That would be so funny! lol
So I'll see if I venture in for this "free sample." LOL

If PABA tears you up, zinc oxide is a good physical sun block and almost no one reacts to it. Thanks Emily, I'll check into it. just thinking of zinc oxide takes me back to summer camp days of the white nose, canoeing and rafting. Then while on ski slopes, there was colored Zinc oxide for the more fashionable approach...purple, green, blue....LOL

That's a good idea, Thanks. :D

luckily, I can handle alcohol on my skin fine, so at least I know it's not that. I love refreshers. ;)

You're so right on this. I learned this in my nutrition class. Things that can actually be natural, are written as long names we don't know, nor is it harmful or painful to us as it is to pronounce. LOL
