I started this thread for our Club Chi Chihuahuas and other furbabies that we can all add to.

As I'm putting out a few holiday* decorations today, I've noticed some that I won't use, or at the least keep them up high.

I was going to have baskets of scented pot pourri with twigs and pinecones, but they are poisonous and can cause choking.

I know there are a lot of tips, but thought I'd start with one and let everyone add one or two, if you want, to help out. :) Thanks.

*any holiday, not just Christmas...New Years, any will help out.

make sure not to use TINSEL on your trees...they can wrap around the digestive system and cause death

This is a great thread.

I know one but dont know if it counts in this section:
If you live in Australia around christmas time is snake season, so if you are taking your dogs on a walk then take them early morning or late evening when its cooler and snakes are snoozing.

Be careful of Macadamia nuts, they are highly toxic to dogs-especially dipped in Chocolate!

Be careful of heavy decorations and where they are placed. I have a large wooden nut cracker soldier that could fall over and hurt a Chi, even if it's placed on the ground.

keep items with strings that hang down up high to a place where no animal can get to esp. if you have cats who like to play with string

Take care while placing thin glass ornaments on your tree. There are plastic ones made for pet safety that are best, but if the glass ones are used, place higher where dogs and cats can't reach them and wrap hanger wire around the branch tight and secure.
