Has Anyone Been To Auction?

Has anyone here been to an auction before? We have not, so DH and I are just wondering what it is, because, his aunt is having a barn/household sale December 4th in her giant white barn. We were invited to at least come and have coffee, say hi to the cousins. I would love to find a sofa for the chi's for a good price, or any furniture for a good deal, even kitchen things, etc. They always had nice things in a home that was over 4, 000 sq. ft. He's passed away, so I'm sure she's getting rid of a lot things.

I can see myself at an auction scratching my head and winning farm equipment and coughing and winning the new logging equipment that will be there. LOL So, we are planning at least to go to the one and a holf hour viewing before it starts. I'm not sure about this, but it may be fun. hehe ;-)

i have never been to auction either, but we have a friend that is trying to get us to go to a furniture auction. I am like you, afraid I will be bidding on things and not even knowing it, by coughing,scratching, just moving period. It should be fun to attend though. Let us know if you go, and what it was like. :)

LOL. I've never been to an auction before either. I never know what is considered good pricing on certain items and am afraid of paying way too much for something that's really not worth that much! The only auction I've ever participated in... eBay? Haha.
