Stephan is insisting on trimming Pascha's long pants, I love them and they look so pretty on her but I do agree that they are getting in the way when she um.. poo's :???:
Does anyone trim their chi's behinds? If so how do they ? with scissors or an electric hair trimmer ?

Have you tried using leave-in conditioners or sprays first? I use a product on both Heuser and Tally swear by it-its called "Ice on Ice" by Chris Christensen and its a finishing spray that you use after a bath or as a final rinse that seals the hair shaft against sun and stains. I use a heavier concentrate of it on Tally's pants and belly and the dirt/poop/etc. wipes right off. It is also a detangler and you will NOT believe how soft it makes all your dogs! This is one of the "dog show secrets" that many people swear by! Here's the website: http://www.chrissystems.com/iceonice1.htm
Otherwise, if you insist on trimming her pants, I'd use a thinning shear like I do on Heuser's. They range in price, starting around $10 (US) and go up from there. You can find them at petstores or call an area pet groomer to see if they can order any for you. There are also a million choices online. For those of you not familiar with thinning shears, they are the funny-looking "Teeth Scissors" that your hair stylist uses to texturize and thin the hair. Go for the finest blade possible with a minimum of 40 teeth and start at the ends of the hair, working your way in until you have it to the length you desire. This way, the hair is shortened but maintains a more natural appearance without the chopped look to it. This is how every show breeder I know shapes and sculpts their dogs for the ring.
Happy Chopping!

i always have Luckys done...in fact i have him trimmed all over because his hair is curly at the end when it starts to grow and it gets matted very very easy...and my groomer uses scissors to trim his pants

I don't think I would never cut Roman's "pants". His are more like chaps. LOL
Once in a while, he will need a special bath, but hardly ever. It's just if it doesn't come off the chaps and we bathe him all the time anyway, sometimes just a bottom bath. LOL He never minds that.
