With the turkeys headed for the oven, and Grandma's recipe for sweet potato pie filling the air with it's familiar aroma...please tell us your favorite dish for Thanksgiving, and share the recipe if it's a must-make for our table of delights!!!
Thanks!
Also, what are you thankful for? What is your holiday tradition?
And lastly, if you could invite three guests to sit with you and your chihuahuas this Thanksgiving, whom would you include, from any time period?

Okay, here's our "have to be there or the guest's riot" casserole-
We just call it an Italian Casserole and its really basic but really good!!!
Basically, its layered casserole of thinly sliced tomatoes, potatos, and white onions alternating with provelone, mozzerella, and parmesan cheeses and italian spices (with roasted garlic for an added kick). Start the layering with the potatos and put the tomatos then onions on top. Than a thick layer of cheeses and then start over again. Bake for an hour in a 350 degree oven and let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
I AM THANKFUL FOR MY HEUSER MAN THIS YEAR. I can't imagine my life without him and I am so excited to celebrate with him here with us safely and healthy!!! As far as guests to sit with this Thanksgiving, I would choose to sit with Matt's Uncle Jim who we lost to a Heart Anurism two years ago this fall, and his Aunt Kathy and his dad who would love to see him again even more than me and Matt...

I can't really post a recipe because they are are family ones I have been helping to make since I could walk. If I had to write it down I would not have measurements.
If I could invite three people I think it would be:
Jesus , George Washington, and Bon Jovi ( I know but I went through my teenage years with him on my radio and was at like 6 concerts!) What a dinner that would be!
I am thankful for my family and their health!

My favorite recipes for Thanksgiving is a cornbread dressing with chicken. It's old fashion and awesome! I could eat an entire pan of it. It's basically cornbread that has been made and crumbled up, with biscuits crumbled up. Then saute' onion and celery in butter until tender. Add one egg, seasonings such as sage, poultry seasoning, salt, pepper, chicken broth, and chopped pieces of chicken meat. Mix all together and bake in a casserole pan at 350 for 45 to 55 minutes.
My other favorite is a cranberry salad. Made with fresh cranberrys that have been finely chopped, add two cups of sugar and let sit over night in the refrigerator. Then drain for two hours in a strainer. Then add 1 cup chopped pecans, 1 cup sliced red grapes. Mix well and then fold in 1 cup of heavy whipping cream that has been whipped. Let chill then serve.
I also love candied sweet potatoes, green beans, mashed potatoes, corn, and some turkey if there is any room left on my plate!
If I could have anyone to have Thanksgiving dinner with it would be my pets, Spencer and my Dad. Those are the most important people to me.
Then after dinner going to a movie together and then back home for leftovers!!
Yummy!!!!
