I just noticed tonight that Hummer has red rims around his eyes, I've seen him several times rubbing his little face on the carpet. I guess will be going to the vet in the next day or so to see what the deal is.. poor little thing is always scratching, itchy or something. Last time his ears where bothering him I found out he had a little yeast infection so they gave me some ointment to put on them, but it's hard to keep anything on him cause Hercules comes and licks it all off!

Renata, Sorry to hear Hummer's got the eye itchies. I hope it's a just a minor irritation that some visine-type drops can help. That's so cute how Hercules "helps" Hummer. Chi Hugs to Hummer. Let us know if you find anything out. :flower:

Eye hope (just a little pun there, sorry!) Hummer's eyes feel better soon! It might be allergies, the vet will probably give him a cortisone shot or something and maybe a little eye ointment, otherwise, it could be conjunctivitis (pink eye). Either way, let us know how it goes! Oh, and tell your H2's their new food is going in the mail tomorrow so should be there soon!!!

I took him to the vet today and he's got a staph infection. So he has to take an antibiotic twice a day and then I have to put ontiment into his eyes twice a day, then take him back to the vet next Thursday.. poor little thing... they had to do a scrape of his eyes and he didn't like that one bit! The vet first thought it might be mange and I was just horrified, luckily it wasn't that.. anyway I took Hercules with me to the vet, he was there for moral support for Hummer. When Hummer was crying Hercules was jumping up and down crying and trying to see what was going on with his little brother! It was so cute.
We also saw another little chi at the vet, he was a short haired, fawn chi. He was 9 months old and so little.. His Mommy said he had a heart condition and she thought that might be contributing to his size. Anyway.. he was cute! I should have gotten his Mommy's name and email!
Lys... Thanks for much for getting some samples for us.. we'll be checking the mail daily for our little snacky's from Kansas City! Please give Heuser and Tally kisses from us!

Hi Renata, :wave:That's so good Hummer's being a good boy with his medicine. :) All 3 of my pups actually know the word "medicine" and get in line for the chance to have any kind of ointment-anywhere! LOL I hope he's all better soon!

Hummer's eyes look completely normal now and I haven't seen him scratch or rub his little head on the carpet not once! He's still doing so good at taking his meds. Tomorrow we go back to the vet for him to look at how they are healing.

The vet was amazed about how well Hummer's eyes have healed. He's going to finish up the antibiotic and the ontiment. Hopefully it won't return.
