Hi Tootsie's Mom. Oh, sorry to hear Tootsie didn't feel well. Is she ok now? I hope so; it can be frightening to see our furbabies like that. Vomiting can be caused by a lot of things, and it's a common reaction in dogs.

Of course, you know the vets answers are always the surest, but I can think of a few quick things here...since you say she's ok now.

Some of the causes can be small things like eating grass or over eating. Maybe she just got sick and it made her weak during that time. I would think if it was poison, it would continue on until the problem was fixed by a vet.

Watch her close to make sure she's eating and drinking normally now, in any discomfort, blood in vomit or stool, the consistancy of the stool, etc. If there is any blood, call your vet right then. Keep track of everything, even the times and what activities were being done by Tootsie at the times she becomes ill.

More serious things could be a blockage if she's not pooping, or a seizure, so if you haven't already called your vet, do call if it happens again just so he/she can hear what's going on. Then measures can be taken for any treatment needed.

Other things for you to watch for is sporadic vomiting combined with Tootsie not having an appitite and a poor condition of her coat. Then these are sings of an illness, and she should go to the vet right away.

Hopefully, it's more on the normal side of tummy upset...Please let us know how she does and if it happens again, and then what the vet says if she needs to go. Please post about anything here for Tootie on Club Chihuahua anytime. There are many people here who are happy to help and give support. :) ~Barb

PS oh, and make sure she drinks plenty of water so she doesn't get dehydrated...that can happen fast with dogs.

Hi Suzanne, oh yeah, the honking. That's hard to watch with the little furbabies too. What a relief to hear Tootsie's doing fine now. I forgot to mention that Roman had a terrible stomach ache every time he ate Greenies (dog treats) They made him vomit, weak, and writhe in pain. he couldn't stand up during these times.
