Besides Chihuahuas, what other types of dog(s) would you like as a family member or do you love, if you had no limitations for owning them?
I have many breeds I'd love, but I would have Old English Sheepdogs again, and I've always wanted a Standard Poodle in black. A small Poodle would be fine as well.
Old English's stay puppy forever and are fun to brush. Poodles are fun to groom and clip into many different looks. :)

I would only want short hair dogs. I would never enjoy grooming a long coat of any breed. I would love to have a sleek Italian Greyhound or a Chinese Crested. I would also like a Pug or a French Bull Dog. For a bigger breed I would want a Dalmation. But I know my limitations. I would only be good with little dogs who can use poop pads as I don't want to be tied in to a walking routine.

If I had a choice of getting another dog I would choose a chi LOL;-)
But if I couldnt choose a chi I would choose a great dane, they are so cute and goofy like, I think they are amazing large animals and so docile and lazy for a giant dog. I guess I like the extremes - large and small :)

Let's see, if I could get another breed of dog, what would it be?! I'd want a Tosa (Tosa-Ken, Tosa-Inu) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/islandbabies/mndiesel.jpg That's a pix of me and Diesel who is a Tosa. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/islandbabies/j.jpg That's Jay, another Tosa. They are HUGE suckers aren't they?! And I'm not a small girl and he's still bigger than me! They don't have a breed standard so therefore go unrecognized.
I'd want a SBT (Staffordshire bull terrier) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/islandbabies/dsc_002.jpg This is Jimmy, my uncle's show dog, the only SBT to take the win in the terrier group EVER in HI. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/islandbabies/penny.jpg And that's Penny, another SBT, she's just the cutest, look at that smile! SBT's are still pretty rare so not too popular, but who knows what will happen in the years to come!
I love the way AmStaff's look too! Ohhhh and I'd really looooove an Irish Setter! I think they are just too beautiful!! Oh and a hound dog, gotta love those long ears!!
I know there's more, oh yes, the Neopolitan Mastiff that's just been recognized by the AKC!!

Hmmm? I don't know.. I'm seriously in love with Chi's! I've never been much of a dog lover before Hercules and Hummer.. probably another small dog. I really like being able to feel like I have a baby all the time.

Island Babies, That's right the smaller the poopies the better for me. That's my absolute criteria. But really I also love that my girls can both snuggle with me on the bed or the couch at the same time and can sleep behind my knees or against my tummy. That Tosca guy would take up my whole bed and I would be sleeping on the couch, never mind the size of the.... you know...

What a beautiful dog, Jen!!! Unfortunately, Staffy's are often included in breed restrictive legislation here in the mainland and many owners of the dogs are faced with either the inability to live within town/city limits or forgo home owner's insurance because their coverage is refused. I personally love pitbulls, dobermans, rotties, etc. and am sad to see dangerous dog bills being passed all over the country. NOTE: many exhibitors I know boycott GEIKO insurance for this exact reason-unknown to the public, their new television commercial featuring various dogs enjoying a ride in a car (including a chihuahua) was created in an attempt to get dog-lover's attention. Too bad most people don't know that if they own a Doberman, Rottweiler, Great Dane, St. Bernard, Akita, Staffy, Pitbull, or any of the above breed mixes, Geiko either refuses coverage or takes it away from current customers...
Back to the topic, lol! I'd love a sighthound-my favorite being a Basenji...I love that they are very independent and agile, as well as generally loyal to only their owners. The only thing I don't like about chis is that they can't keep up with me when I run-I'd love a dog to jog with and participate in other AKC sanctioned events other than conformation (Lure coursing in sighthounds)

For me, if I could, I would own a Border Collie, Shetland Sheepdog, and a Papillon!!.. Ooh, I can't forget the fluffy Pomeranian!

Terri, I just bought a book about staffy's and it said in 1995 there were only a couple hundred registered in the US!! I'm sure the numbers have grown since then though, but not too sure by how much.
Lys, thanks for saying the staffy's beautiful. Just found out that when Jimmy (the black staffy) won his group he also went on to win best in show! He just recently became a "new" papa. Had a litter of 8 with my uncle's other staffy. Here in HI we don't have any of those breed restricted laws. But I'm not too sure how long that'll last, there have been a couple of people that were attacked by pit bulls and a child was killed by a beagle mix here. It's so sad that the owner's don't know how to properly care for their animals. I never knew about the GEICO thing! That's just terrible, is there any place where I can go to read more about this?
