I chose veterinarian, but the groomer has done it before, too. Loppi hasn't needed her glands expressed for a while now.

My husband's good at, so I let him do our 3 puppers.http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0304/lachen/laughing-smiley-001.gif

I used to feed Daisy soft food all the time and the vet needed to express the glands. She had to prescribe pain pills afterward!
Now I only feed her dry dog food and they have not needed expressing since. A hard stool helps self express the glands.

No one at our house. The glands here seem to empty out just fine on their own! Thank goodness too, if it needed to be expressed I'd make my roomie do it. Hehehe.

Kathy and JenJen you're so lucky! It's strange my Chis didn't do the schoochies this week. They usually do the day before their bath and all, but they still needed emptying.

Wow Daisy's Mom. That too bad Daisy had to have a pain pill. That must have been upsetting for her.

Roman and Elle eat hard dry food, but just have a little bit of canned mixed through it--not a lot though.

I chose groomer b/c Kishi gets hers done much more than Lu. Lu goes to the vet though. I never ever leave him at a groomer, I am too scared. Kishi goes every month or two depending on how long her hair gets and they do hers there along with plucking all the hair in her ears....OUCH!!!!

Nina and Kutchum only had this done once at the vet and he said there was not much there.

Gracie and Sammi have never needed their glands done. Gracie has scooted just a little bit. Sammi has never scooted. I also feed only dry food. I guess that is why they have not needed to have this done. They have fairly firm poop. I guess this is a good thing. If they seem to be having way too firm poop I give them canned baby food veggies for awhile. I guess they are self expressers.:moon: We seem to have hit a balance here in the poop/anal gland universal status quo department. No other part of my life seems as well balanced as this factor. What could that mean in the cosmic forces... I'm not complaining mind you, I'll take what ever help I can get.;-)
