Ok.. Hercules has always been so good about using his litter box, that is out on the porch. But the last two days he's been naughty and has peed on the tile in the kitchen, right before going out to his box! Do you think it's the weather and he's thinking it's too cold to go out or do you think he couldn't hold it any longer and just lost it before getting outside?

If his box is outside and it is too cold he probably doesn't want to go out there. Could you move it in by the door for him for a few nights cause I know it has been really cold here the last week?

I'd say the weather too. Roman has a potty pad up in the diningroom that's been his favorite place with the cold weather. Otherwise, he's begging to go outside. :) Even Sheba's been smelling the potty pads everyday, and I wonder if she would start to use it. That would be so nice if she would! :D

I like your Avatar Renata. That's such a great pic of Hercules! I can't find my Avatar in my files, darn it. So I've been trying to resize a new one and keep getting a thin skinny picture. LOL Aarrg. LOL :D

I agree with everyone else, Hercules is probably too cold to go out to potty. I think you should try and do what others suggested and put the littler box on the inside of the house. :D

Thanks yall.. I'll put his litter box just inside the door.. then hopefully we won't have anymore surprises on the tile!

Sheba's been checking out Roman's potty pads lately and then stands on them for quite a while, and she sniffs it like crazy. LOL

Do you think a 13 year old dog would learn to go on the potty pad? It's so hard for her to go out sometimes, and how handy would that be for us? :) LOL :)

As soon as the rain lets up a little, I'm going to take a used one outside and see if I can slip it under her, or do something like that. :)

Barb, I think Sheba could learn how to use those potty pads! She seems like a very smart girl. But I think it would take a little longer to learn. But I bet she could do it!

I think you girls where right! On the nights it's really cold and the litter box is inside.. No problems!

I bet he was sticking his little head thru the pet door, and thought to himself: "Nope! Too cold to pee pee on the porch, the kitchen floor will do just fine!"

Yep yep, he was probably thinking, "HECK NO!!!" http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0903/sprachlos/speechless-smiley-040.gif
Those pj's that I got for Alana would probably be perfect for him!

Tracy,
He's doing pretty good, but we do have an accident occasionally.. like this morning. I think he had to go so bad, that he just didn't make it to the door in time!
We have a screened in porch with a pet door that goes from the kitchen to the porch. I love the fact that they ( meaning the kitties) have their litter boxes out on the porch and not in the house!

Tracy,
Did you sprinkle some litter on it too?

no....do you have to use cat litter for them to accept it? (do they kick it all over like a cat does?) :?

Tracy, I just put the litter in the box, about 1 -2 inches deep. They don't kick it around like a cat, they just mess on top of it! Now, if you want to try and teach them how to scratch around then you'll have to tell us all about it.
Just start putting them right in the center of it after they wake up or eat and evenually they will get the hang of it. Be sure and praise them a bunch when you catch them doing it, that way they will be happy and want to do it again for you.

use a dog litter pan it has higher sides, I use a small amount or arm and hammer cat litter the kind you scoop sometimes i use their easy flush i buy pads that you use on a bed they are like puppy pads only cheaper i sit the litter box on a couple of them 1 in front they poo poo in they pan pee on pad also the pad will catch the poo if you have a mover and thats the only spot they go to. i started them as babys by putting them in after they ate and when they would wake up I just stayed with it when they have to potty at night they get up and go there. :D
