Who would like to participate, and how should we set it up? Suggestions?

ME! ME, with no CHI yet! :oops::rolleyes: Hmm... what if everyone who wanted to participate sent one person their address, and then the list of addresses gets PMed to those who want to do it? As for rules, I think it would be fair that if someone wants to send someone else something, they can do so without expecting something in return, BUT it would be courteous if the other person that received did send something as a thank you? Know what I mean? Ahhh maybe I'm just babbling :)

Unless this was like a one time thing-- I was thinking it would be nice to have someone's address on hand in case you see them post they're having a bad day, or something like that to send a surprise gift.

We'd have to have a way of tracking the ones that are doing it, and who they send their package to. That way we know that everyone that put their name in is being included. I think everyone that participates should have to send something out. But who will decide who teams with who? And what if you have more than one pup?

Ohhh ok like this is a one time just-because gift exchange i see!! Well, whoever organizes it can ask everyone to PM them, and then that person pulls names out of a hat to see who gives to who, tells those people, and requires maybe delivery confirmation for the package?

Since I don't have my Chi yet I won't participate in this one I'll organize it for all of you if we figure out how we want to do it, so then no one knows who they get :)

I like the idea of a fashion exchange. But being on CC forever I just want to remind everyone that we do the Annual Holiday Gift Exchange known as the Secret Santa too every year. So if members can only participate once per year they shouldn't miss out on that as it is great fun.

That's funny just the other day I found brand new never worn sweaters that are too small for Happy Boy now and two muscle t-shirts that he only wore one twice and one not at all and I was thinking who had tiny boys that I could send them to.

I have an idea that could sound a little silly so tell me to hush if no one likes it.

Some one could draw up a list of those who want to participate regularly, then once a month we can match two people up, every month 2 different people (so it makes it more fun and evertyone gets included, they they can exchange gifts.

So far people who have approached me with the idea said they just wanted to get me something, but i would feel so darn guilty if i didnt return something to them, so i always sent them something back.

I dont think it has to be store bought. I think home made is just as lovely, its way more personal too.

I like this idea, its so much fun. I love getting things from the states and its fun for me to send things from here too!
I totally love this idea, and I wouldnt want to lose the CHristmas secret Santa thing either, that is exciting because you never know who is sending you a wonderful surprise. I am a big fan and supporter of the Christmas secret santa gift exchange.

A rule I can think of at the top of my head, something about a join date or post count, or something of that nature. Just me, personally, wouldn't want a person with one post to have my addy. I'm just paranoid like that, LOL.

The reason I started this thread is because so many were requesting fashion exchange. I love Secret Santa, this is not to replace that. It's just a mid year fun thing. If you aren't able to participate but once a year, please wait for Secret Santa. Jen mentioned some good points too. There will have to be rules to protect everyone. Not saying that anyone here has ill intentions of any kind. So with that said, your join date needs to have been before June 1st in order to participate. We can do this as often as you guys would like so that the newer members can join in at some point. If there is something else that needs to be added in the way of rules, Jen, whomever, please speak up.

Once we have a list of everyone that wants to participate, Meredith can match us up. Meredith, you may want to match some of us with ones we haven't already exchanged with.

As far as bought, or handmade, either is fine. I think receiving something handmade would be very special to anyone that receives it.

Meredith, do you want us to post our fur-kids sizes and measurements here?

I think it only fair that if you are exchanging with someone that has (6) Chi's and you only have one, then the exchange should be for one, not all 6. I wouldn't want someone to feel like they would need to exchange 6 outfits to me for 1 outfit for them.

I don't think we could really be matched up according to the number of pups. I think many have one or two. There are a few of us that have 3 and more. It's okay with me if my partner has 2 pups, and only sends two outfits. Your idea sound great too. What does everyone think? We can also be matched with more than one person so that each of our babies gets something? That way we still end up sending the number of outfits out to match our number of pups. Makes sense? I'm willing to do this however you guys would like too. :)

I'd hate to send or receive a piece of clothing that would be grown out of soon. for the babies can we have the option of a chew toy? or stuffed animal? or something a long that line? just throwing ideas out there

I like that idea too! it leaves it up to the recipient, that way there would be no gifts that may not really get used.

Should we set a price limit per dog so someone doesn't get something for $50 and someone else gets something for $5 in their exchange. Just as a guideline.

the price giudeline is great but for us not from the USA its difficult. because $5 dollars doesnt go far here! so i think the person should spend what they want and they can afford. (i would have to spend more).

Also i think you should discuss with your partner for a particular trade how what they are keen on and what they are not. so those who dont need clothes and would prefer chewy things, they can say that to the personthey are exchanging with.

I would end up going overboard too! It's just so much fun to shop for these babies! My friend Amanda is on a yorkie forum and she doesn't participate, but their gift exchanges are a MINIMUM of $40 or $50 she said!!!!!

Even though I'm not participating I just thought I'd put my 2 cents in :) I think $10 is good :) It's very fair, and for those that want to go over can. I think $50 for a gift exchange, as a min requirement is absolutely ridiculous! Honestly I'd probably go overboard and spend that, but I think requiring that much as a minimum is insane!!!

Then I'm assuming whoever is on there is in the final list, and I'll write out names and draw them from a hat or box or something. And are we matching the people or are we matching the dogs? Did we ever decide that? So like for example, Chance could get matched with Duke, but Lexie could have Chloe? Or are we doing like, Teresa has Megan, for example?
