View Full Version : What is something unique about you?
I thought it would be fun to learn something about each other that may be unique, it could be funny or serious.
I'll start,
I have lived in 3 states (I know that is not unique to Brenda though :) )
I can whine perfectly like a little dog!! LOL
Your turn.......

um.... I can bend my thumb back the wrong way - it looks gross and I like to freak people out by doing it.
Oh and I love to travel - I have been to Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, all around the coast of western australia, all over Germany, around Holland, London, Singapore, and going to gold coast again in 3 weeks and Canberra in August.

Unique about me?
Hmm, well I gave birth to my only child by emergency C-Section, because he was a whopping 10 pounds, 1 ounce! Now, he is 12, and is tall and lanky, not the butterball I recall!
I travelled all the way to Bombay, India by myself for the most fabulous vacation of my life, and saw sights from Bombay to Goa, India, by train and shopped til I dropped.
I can sneeze up to fifteen times in one sitting, over and over and over, little tiny baby sneezes!
I bravely endured 13 hours of intense pain  ....no, not for another huge delivery, but for my eyeliner to be permanently tattooed on my upper and lower eyelids!!!

I didn't think I had anything, but I suppose this could be considered unique. I'm a frog magnet. Since I was a kid, frogs find me. Several times, I've been in showers, say camping, home, poolsides, motels, etc. They jump on me. Everyone can use the shower. Who does the frog pick? Me. I woke up once with a frog on my lips in our bedroom where we used to live. It's got to be karma because the first time I went fishing when I was 3, I caught a frog. :D

I can wiggle my ears too! I lived in the same city my entire life! Can't imagine living anywhere else. My hair has only been seriously butchered once! Some people think I'm weird because I can do this thing with my fingers. I haven't seen anyone else do it, so maybe I am. But put your hands together like you're praying, not finger through fingers, but just together like you're clapping, then press down on your fingers with the opposite hand. Do your fingers go down? Mine can go about 75% of the way down to the back of my hand.

Is that like your middle finger bending so far back it's almost touching your wrist?

Yep yep but for me it's all my fingers, not just my middle. It freaks some of my friends out! It's funny as heck when I do it!
WOW BARB!!!! I think that definetly qualifies as a 'FROG MAGNET!!!".LOL I love frogs though, do you like them or are you freaked out by them? On eof my teachers talked about his wife being terrified of them worse than people who are scared of spinders (like me!!).
Jen, I tried to do that and mine won't go back very far, YOU ARE UNIQUE!!!!! LOL
I think that I have an unusual knack for helping sick or injured animals. My grandma has always been like this with the weakest of animals and I have done a lot through my life as well....who knows. :)

Barb I'd freak out with frogs. Not really bad but enough. Last night there was this gecko that I guess forgot that the wall stopped because of the doorway. And phewww went flying off, and splat! Landed on the floor!  It's a good thing I wasn't walking there!
Mandi, I think it's awesome that you help out animals. Seems like your grandma passed down the love of animals to you!

Maybe the frog wanted you to see if your kiss would turn it into a prince Barb!
I have a few special talents, one of them is that I can shake my eyeballs at super-speedhttp://pages.prodigy.net/bestsmileys1/emoticons3/eyes3.gif%20
I can also crack the tendon across my ankle so that it sounds like my bone is popping out of place, I have grown up riding, training, and showing horses, and can also play the violin-which took me to Italy to meet the Pope when I was 7!

I like them when they're not jumping on me. I have to since the last place had a river run through the middle of our property. We always had "Toad Abodes" so the toads would stay close. We got to know them as pets and named them, and I know they knew us. :) We talked to them. Now we live by a creek, so more frogs. But we're not creekside here. We have Toads here too. They dig holes, and they look so cute when they hybernate in them for the winter. But if they come up on the porch and head for the door, I have Roman's Dad take them to the side yard. I did touch a huge toad's back for a Rotary International frog jumping contest! hahaha

I think this is unique, Mandi. I've lived in the same state all my life though with moves throughout my life due to my Dad's transfers with his company.
One year though, I had 8 completed moves in the same city right before I met Terry. Then that was my best and final move. After that, we've just had this last move together 7 years ago this Valentine's Day.

LOL I can't bend my thumb like this! hahaha You're so lucky to be able to do so much travelling, Terri. My mom and dad traveled around the world 3 times and twice to Hawaii. I should be so lucky. LOL :)
Do you know if Singapore is where the Cacheng (cash-ing) River is, where they are letting the water take over the ancient ruins and entire city? Where ever it is, I think that's so sad so many people are being displaced by it, but still, they are doing it, and I'm very interested in it. I haven't heard much about it for a well over a year now.
Now I'll have to look that up and see how it's going.

I would do this for eyeliner. I get tired of being in pain with the stinging eyes from eye make up. I don't have many things I can apply. I can't even wear hairspray, which is not a a good thing for my hair! LOL

I think my aunty has her eyeliner tattooed on as well. But I know for sure her eyebrows are, in fact I know two people that have their eyebrows tat'd! I don't think I could go through something like that. Ouch! :pinch:

I did find a lot of little gold crowns on the floor, but I had no idea where they came from :joker:
Oh! You do that with your eyes! I can't stand to watch! I have an eyeball thing and can't even wear contacts.
I can do that with a tendon in my ankle too. LOL Mine's in the back, but I had a sports injury from long distance running. It doesn't hurt, but I think it's cool! hahahahha

Barb that's like that guy in ace ventura 2, Jim Carey was poking his own eye ball and the guy was going nuts and getting all squeemish.
I can crack one of my knuckles like all the time, I don't even have to wait a while, I can constantly do it. People also say I sit funny. I can sit with my legs crossed (like Indian style) but put your right foot on your left thigh, and your left foot/leg over your right leg onto your right thigh. And sit there for a while, is it still comfy?

Ok, I had to think about this one, but I think I thought of something. :D
You know how some people's arms are double-jointed, so that when they lock their elbows their arms are actually bending backwards a little bit? Well I am the opposite. My arms do not straighten all the way. When I lock my elbows, it looks like I'm actually bending them a little bit. I inherited this trait from my dad, who is a terrific athlete and claims these "special" arms make us naturally throw frisbees straighter (which is extremely important in life, don't you think?)!

Crystal I know one about you.... For someone that nearly 16 you are VERY mature and im so impressed with that. You can hold your own in a conversation with adults here. I dont think I have ever met another 15/16 year old like you.

Love reading the posts!
Hmm let me think...unique...
I got it! I can stay in a room of 30 5th grade students (98% poverty/inner city) all day long. I don't know many people who could do it! j/k
I dont know about unique...My elbows twist around more than the normal person when I lean on a desk. I dont think it is weird, but my students freak out when I do it. I really dont do anything special- it automatically goes that way!
Soemthing else unique- very picky eater! I hate almost all condiments- ketchup, mustard, mayo, horseradish...all sandwiches must be plain. I only like vinegrette or ranch dressing. everything else is gross!
Wow, I am having so much fun reading these!!! I can't even catch up and reply on them all, it is great!!!
Rico& Lola- I too am in the club of the VERY PICKY EATERS Anonymous!!! I don't eat any noodles among lots and lots of other things, but most people think that that is crazy. I truely believe that my taste buds are above normal and can taste the bitterness of so many things. I am a meat and taters girl!!!
