A month ago i got my first chihuahua. She is 13 weeks old, i got her when she was 9 weeks. At first she was really good about going to the bathroom. She would come to me and want to be picked up and then once i pick her up she starts to cry, so i take her out and she does her buisness. But for the past week she just does it where ever. I have paper out just incase she cant find me (like i always have) but shes not even using that. And we also have a 2 year old collie, that now thinks that its ok to go whereever too since the puppy can. I tried everything i did with the other dog but it doesnt seem to work with her. Anybody have any suggestions?
We taught her the command "come here", after her getting scared one day and she not comming out from under the couch. But also lately she doesnt listen, she runs away.
Could this just be a age she's at?
like i said this is my first chihuahua so im new to them

I think with the little ones it takes more time,Izzie got stuck under our couch once so we put a blanket in front of it now so she can't get out. Just keep taking her to the place where you want her to go and tell her she is a good girl if you catch her in the act than tell her no and pick her up right away and put her where you want her to go Izzie I think really got it down close to 4 months old when I went away and she was home with the other one all day she did really good but when I came home she started to pee again on the rug and she knows now because if I seen a spot I will say izzie did you pee on the rug that a bad girl and she will curl up and walk away have you tried the pee pads because they do have the scent on them for them to go I do think it is her age she is at right now because as I said Izzie is just getting it straight at 5 months but she does love to go outside and she is really good using the bathroom outside if you are able I would take her out every couple of hours.Patty

I think it's the age. It's sometimes around this time your puppy will try and test you, mainly to see if they are the "packleader." It's important during this time you let her know you are the leader and NOT her.

She's still young so accidents are bound to happen, the key to success is not to give her an opportunity to go potty where she's not suppose to. This means keeping her confined to a small area such as a crate if you can't keep a very close eye on her. As for getting her to come to you, make coming to you a pleasant experience, such as rewarding her with a food treat, giving her a favorite toy or playing with her. In other words, do what you can to make her see if she comes to you something good awaits her.
