O.K, you all know by now that Bianca uses a litterbox as her bathroom. Well, as of earlier this week, she's been pooping on the carpet!!! WHY??? We just got the carpets cleaned this week and she started doing after that. Could it be that she is no longer smelling her scent and doing it to "mark" her territory?
I'm really disappointed in her. She's been so good about using the litterbox and now this!

well i can tell you that we just had new carpets laid and Gordy went straight for em!
Nooshie didnt bother so much.

I think it is strange, how old is Bianca now?

That has always happened with every dog and cat I have had. I honestly think you are right. They cannot smell "themselves" on it, therefor they have to make it theirs. That really sucks, you may have to confine her to tile for a while or a crate.

No advice, but wanted to say I hope Bianca gets back on track! And I hope that if she isn't smelling herself, she sure is now, with her pooping on the carpet. Heh, that didn't sound right at all!

Crackers did the same thing a couple of times after our carpet cleaning, then he went back to his pee pads in the bathroom. She was prob just "marking" her territory. I am sure she will get back in the litter box. :)

Hopefully she'll settle again soon once she smells her scent. I'm sure that isn't what you had in mind after cleaning the carpet. I know that must be frustrating.

I'm sure that's all it was..I just hate reprimanding her. She gets real low to the groudn, puts her ears back and her tail between her legs, than looks ups at me with those sad, black eyes...sigh...how can you stay mad at that??

I don't think she liked the smell of the shampoo they used maybe. But thank goodness she got the message!

good news! Loki had the same problem for a while. sometimes he still does. he will definitely pee on his pad which is in the bathroom but when he wants attention or tell me that he's mad at me (usually because he didn't get to go out with me somewhere) he'll poop somewhere else. then he'll hide right after cuz he knows it's bad lol

Awwww! Lexie does the same thing. It's so sad. :( You can't stay mad at them.

Nope, no staying mad. Once they give that look and scoot on their bellys toward you, it's all over!

I know the look. I get the same one. They no how to make you feel bad for even thinking of being upset with them. If I even say "shame" they look at me like I broke their heart.
