Ok.. what time can I stop over at everyone's home? If we time it right I probably could get all three in on one day!
I'm only making cranberry fluff salad, were going to the club for lunch then to my parent's home for dinner. The boys are with their mom this week. ( yah!! first week off for me in three months!) I'm just chilling and enjoying the quiet time off from work and spending lots of quality times with my furbabies.

Baked Mac and Cheese
Peach Jello Salad
String Beans

I know that part of Thanksgiving is the cooking it yourself...but this is super yummy food. I live in Las Vegas and I work for MGMMIRAGE and the past few years we have ordered the employee Take-Away Feast from Bellagio. Here's what's on the menu:
Spiced Kabocha Squash and Nutmeg Soup
Lovage Roasted Whole Tim Turkey
Giblet Jus
Thyme and Wild Mushroom Stuffing
Buttermilk Whipped Yukon Gold Potatoes
Candied Bourbon Sweet Potatoes
Cider Braised Harvest Vegetables
Brussels Sprouts with Carmelized Onion
Kumquat Cranberry Chutney
Home Style Pumpkin Pie with Cinnamon Vanilla Sauce
Assorted Hearth Baked Breads
Bellagio Butter
You pick it all up at a time of your choice and it's pretty much hot and ready to serve when you get it home...and it doesn't cost any more than what you would spend buying all the food at the store - you're just spared the cooking time. We still make some extra stuff too though - like green bean casserole and some other desserts :)

This year I bought turkey parts instead of a whole turkey. I have wings, thighs and a breast. I'm going to rub them with butter and sage and roast them.
Then:
apple pie
pumpkin pie
stuffing
cranberry sauce
gravy
green bean casserole with those fried onions
I love Thanksgiving. I will cook the turkey Wednesday night and then do the other items on Thursday.
Notice I started with dessert!

Well thanks everyone for making me soooo hungry! (licks lips)
We dont celebrate thanksgiving here, so i will have to wait for christmas.
But i had some smoked turkey on the weekend, and yummmmmmy, it was delish!
Maybe i should start a thanksgiving tradition here in South Africa!
Any excuse to celebrate the many things in our lives we are thankful for and of course any excuse to eat!!!!!

T-pet, I might come to LV just to pick up an order! lol
Zealot- new traditions are fun to make, if you do make sure you tell us all about it!
someof the pies mentioned sounded so good! do you all make the pies from scratch or buy them? SO much work to make these dinners.
I did one year - I was so tired, I decided never to cook it again! lol... This year my mom is doing a ckn, we can never finish an entire turkey anyway- but we have all the same trimmings.
Has anyone ever had a fried turkey?

I buy the frozen pies. I also get ready made stuffing. But I cook the turkey and the casserole from scratch. Oh, I start with ready made gravy but I add drippings and bits from the turkey to it.

I make everything from scratch. My family can tell the difference. Once in a blue moon I cheat. But for the most part I cook for 2 days. I love to cook anyway. But sometime it gets kinda hectic.

This thread has made me HUNGRY!!!!! Thank goodness dinner's ready!
It's getting closer guys!
I have to make a run to the grocery store today to get some last minute stuff. I sure hope the crowd isn't to bad.
I can only imagine how bad it will be the day after Thanksgiving (Christmas Shoppers).
I'm a Christmas shopper. I will be up bright an early on Black Friday. I've already trolled the Black Friday Ad Scans.

ooO...I was just thinking...
This year for Thanksgiving (I'm in Canada, so ours is in October) we had a deep fried turkey. It was absolutely delicious...I couldn't believe how good it was! There was not a drop of grease in it. We measured the amount of oil put into the cooker, and the exact same amount came out! The skin was so perfectly crispy that it kept out all the grease and the meat was so moist. MMmm...will defintely try that again!!!

I make my pies from scratch, tomorrow night i will be in the kitchen baking 4 pies - 1 peach, 1 apple, 1 dutch apple and 1 pumpkin...i have family members bring more pies as well because feeding almost 35 people is a lot of work...we do all of our cooking on Thursday...we have 2 ovens and then a portable oven as well that can hold about 4 small aluminum pans with sides....we wake up at about 6:30 to get the turkey in, keep cooking up until the minute the guests arrive at 2, and even after that when we make the homemade mashed potatoes...i love this time of year!!
Ooo, yea, I've had deep fried turkey. We did a baked turkey and a deep fried one last year for Christmas. My friend injected one flavor on one side and another on the other side -- SOOO TASTY.

OK, I came home from work at 9 p.m. My stomach said I was hungry and my brain said there is no reason a person cannot put a frozen apple pie in the over on the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving so they can eat a slice for breakfast. I still have a pumpkin pie in the freezer and I am betting there will still be apple pie left for Thanksgiving.
Ummmmm, apple pie for breakfast tomorrow. I am going to start celebrating early!
My cooking frenzy will start pretty soon!
I have some house cleaning to do first. Then off to the oven!
I can't wait to eat!
Faye, I came close to making one of my pies yesterday too. I got busy, which is the only thing that kept me from it.
I'm a Christmas shopper. I will be up bright an early on Black Friday. I've already trolled the Black Friday Ad Scans.
I love to Christmas shop as well!
Black Friday deals are awesome!
I've stood in lines all night long waiting for the doors to open. Crazy I know, but it's addicting! Thrill of the chase!
Last year I had one of the tickets they pass out for certain things that they only have very few of, and goes to the first ones in line, and I gave it to this college student that goes to school full time, and works full time.
The poor guy wanted that TV so bad, and couldn't get off of work to stand in line. I didn't need it that bad. So that was his early Christmas present.
The look on his face when I handed him that ticket was priceless!
I've always been a bargain shopper. I can find so many things at great prices!

Ooo, that is so pretty. Thank you and have a good Thanksgiving.
My turkey is in the oven. I'm cooking everything else tomorrow. It smells so good.
That guy will never forget what you did. He will always tell that story.:flower:
I was happy to help the guy!
I would go again this year to get a few tickets for the most wanted items to give to the late comers that can't get their for good reasons, but it's too cold to keep the puppies out there all night. You have to get in line about midnight for store openings of 6 AM. Chance is still to small to leave alone for long periods. I wouldn't leave Lexie alone for that long either.
So maybe next year.
It's a great feeling to make someone smile!

I'm going to put my Turkey on in the morning. I've got everything else just about done. I'm exhausted too. A good nights sleep, and I'll be like new again.

Well my turkey came out just perfect. This is my best turkey experience ever. Completely done but not dry. It took longer than I expected. I ate a piece late at night!
I used a probe thermometer for the first time and I loved it. I didn't have to keep checking the doneness. I just basted a few times, turned it once, and took the foil off to let it get brown.
Later today I am going to do the stuffing, gravy, pumpkin pie, and cranberry sauce and steamed broccoli. There is about 1/3 of the apple pie left right now but that will be gone before dinner.
P.S. getting on the treadmill tomorrow!

Well, if I told you how I get online time you'd never believe me.
With my Mom being blind, and the girls, and the pups, it's a hit and miss kinda deal.
I usually start, and come back, sometime many times.
I get brief moments throughout the day of computer time, and I try to make the best of them.
I find myself running back and forth checking this board for new posts, because everyone here is so awesome!
Well, my food came out great, and I'm stuffed!
I had a lil nap while the babies were sleeping. That was sure nice!
I sure hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
P.S. getting on the treadmill tomorrow!
 I don't think I could run anywhere right now. We ate at noon, and I still feel full!
