there isn't an exact age but some may have their first heat @ 6mths.... some can be a little later it really depends on the puppy... its best to have them spayed before their first heat I can tell you that... :)

you stated you nothing about heat cycles yet you want to breed?
Breeding takes a lot of knowledge and study... and usually lots and lots of money... It can be heartbreaking too at times. Can I ask why you want to breed? Do you plan to show?
We have a lot of knowledgable people on here who may be able to give you some inside advice having been there..... so hopefully they'll see this and be able to advise you more so than me.

But welcome to the club and I hope to get to know you more :) Please feel free to post some pictures and tell us more about your sweet lil baby :)

Hi there! Welcome to CC! I know your question has been answered and I don't want to sound like a broken record, but I agree with Bren. I myself, have not bred chis or any dog for that matter, but wouldn't do so without knowing as much as I could about the breed and chi itself, like where it came from who it's parents and grandparents were, etc. etc. We have a few members here who know from personal experience what/how it is to breed chihuahuas. I'm sure you know the difficulty when it comes to breeding dogs. But chihuahuas, to me, are a special breed. They need so much more extra planning and such because of their small size. Even the best of the best will sometimes lose puppies and mothers. I would hate to see that happen to you and your chi baby.
Again, welcome to the boards. Hope we can help with other things and feel free to join in on the other sections of our boards! :D

I know your chi's are still babies but since you said you do breed..... I'm curious plus with the other post regarding your lil male having the jaw issues do plan to breed him or shelby? I personally wouldn't but was curious what your plans were? If I'm being too nosey you can say so...
