Gosh, seems I just got Zsa Zsa through her spay surgery and now Ozzie goes in for his neutering. I was going to try to put it off, but he has gone from being a sweet little squatting puppy to being a teenager that wants to put his mark on every table leg in the house.

The vet says it will take about a month of him to lose his urges. Anyone have any male babies that have gone through this? Will neutering help him to stop having the urge to mark? He is 8 months old now and he has only been doing it for a couple of weeks. I just hope its not too late to break him of this habit.

I didn't experience the leg lifting with Ollie, so I don't have any feedback on that. But I wish you the best in being as calm as possible (I know that's hard to do) while your baby is in for surgery.
Nala and Ollie send kisses to him!

Hmmm, Yoshi went in on the very day he turned 6 months old. He started doing the nasty on his Bobo toy at about 4 months and that has decreased A LOT but he never lifted his leg or marked anything.

Happy was doing the nasty to all the fuzzy toys. He wasn't marking. He wasn't quite 6 months when he had the snip. He has never done the nasty again. He lifts his leg to pee on his pads but has never marked.

I wish I could help with that, but have no idea. Just wanted to send wishes for a speedy recovery for Ozzie! Bianca sends her best too!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery! It's a much simpler procedure than the ones for the females. I'm sure Ozzie will be back to norm in no time! Good luck, dude!!

Thanks for all your thoughts and cyber hugs. Ozzie is fine, it is 2:15pm here in Atlanta and he is out of anesthesia and should be fine by the time I pick him up around 6pm.

Poor little guy! I was reading earlier that male marking sometimes is a sign of low self-confidence. That certainly is my little Ozzie as he is afraid of his own shadow. He is shy and doesn't make up with strangers easily, while Zsa Zsa is outgoing and will go up to anyone.

Well, the deed is done. There's no going back now.

Glad your little boy is ok. I bet even if he has low self esteem the snip will help curb some of the marking.

Aww! Feel better soon Ozzie.

I didn't have any marking problems with Roman, but I've read about second chances for male dogs, for you to start out right now and shampoo the carpets, walls, floor, where he was marking. Along with this, work on strict potty training habits as to where he's supposed to go (potty pad, litter box, outside...) and keep after him extra on this for a while by taking him to his potty spot before he has to go. :)

I hope Ozzie feels better as we speak. My little Sherman has a month or two before he can get the snip but I know it will be best for all of us.
Let us know how soon Ozzie feels himself again! : )
