Well, I just cut off 12" of my hair to donate it to Locks of love (http://www.locksoflove.org/)
I must admit it took awhile to do this. I've been thinking about it for, possibly years. Then I read someone's blog this past week and she cut off her hair 14" and looks great. What really got me was that she was going through some type of treatment and lots 75% of her hair, yet when it grew back she donated it to Locks of Love.
Growing up here in Hawai'i a lot of "local" girls have long hair. Ties you to the islands, to our heritage, definately apart of me. I've always had long hair, 'cept when I was in HS, young dumb and compulsive. I cut if off for cheerleading. Bleh.
Makes me happy to know that this time it's going to something far more worthy! Hopefully some child can get use of some of my hair and feel better about themselves.

To think this is after, still long, but short to me!

That is a really nice thing for you to do. Not too many people out here nowadays that will give things away for free to help someone in need. I love to hear about things like this. My sister is actually working on growing her hair out to do that now too.
And YES your hair is STILL long even after the cut.

Hi JenJen, that is so wonderful for you to make a donation. Imagine all the hair that gets thrown away because people don't know they can donate it.

My best friend Eileen donated twice to Locks Of Love. Each time she grew her hair out below her waist.

Just so everyone knows, they will take shorter hair too. If it is not long enough for them they sell it and use the money making the wigs for the kids using the long hair donations. I had grown my hair and even though it was fine and only just made 10" I sent it in when my friend made her second donation a few weeks ago.

I love your hair. It looks even fuller now that it is trimmed. I call hair like yours Princess Hair. :)

JenJen, That's so kind of you to do such a fantastic act of kindness for such a good cause. You have given someone a gift that they will appreciate immensely. And you still have all that beautiful hair!

That is so nice of you!

I am doing the same thing... I'm trying to grow my hair to my waist, and I want to donate it. It's a little bit more than halfway down my back now(a little bit longer than yours after you cut it) :D

I would've had more to donate if I hadn't cut my hair a couple months ago. :( Should've did it then.
Anyhow, thanks ladies for the very nice words!!
Faye, I didn't know they take shorter hair. I will have to let some friends know so maybe they'll be more inclined to donate.
Sincerely,
Princess Hair
P.S. Princess has been my myspace name since last year! LOL.

You have some beautiful hair Jen Jen, and what you did was so generous.
I've never heard before about this initiative and is very important for young people who lost their hair

Good for you! My daughter did that a few years ago and it certainly takes the sting out of letting go of such a piece of one's identity.
You look wonderful love the new bounce!

JenJen,
Your hair, both before and after, is gorgeous! What a beautiful sheen you have, and such waves!!!! It's such a generous gift for an individual that needs it.
My {estranged, evil} mother (age 66) has hair that measures 5 feet tall, that she has been maintaining at that length for 45 years. It would have been quite a donation. At 5'1" in height, she has been known for her "horse mane" amongst other things in our city. I hope she'll share her auburn Rapunzel horsey hair before she giddies up and goes!

Wow, Zoe, I can't even imagine hair that long!!! I'd probably get headaches from all that weight!!
P.S. Nice to see you!!
