Hey friends!!!

Casey had a bad patch while we were gone. She woke up on Thursday morn. Very early like 2:30 a.m. crying. We thought she just didn't want to move beds ( she has to go into my daughter's room mid-night because I get too hot) She spent the entire day asleep hiding and screaming at us each time we tried to pick her up.
Called the vet and he said give her chicken soup so she doesn't lose too much fluid and we'll evaluate in the morning. She ate the chicken soup out of my hand and then peed. So we were feeling a bit better by the next day she could walk but with a limp. So now I'm thinking she's got a broken leg or something. I took her in and she was dehydrated, dribbling p and so tiny.
She had an xray blood tests and a 2hr IV treatment and she was able to come home. Tho staying alone there was never an option, poor baby.
She had a gastric bug probably due to people food. Bad Bad humans.
She was so much better after the IV and he called to confirm her tests were all normal. So - they said she had no screaming and she was a good little girl. As soon as we took her in our arms from the assistant - she screamed at us. It was the funniest thing. The assistant said what a little monkey. She never made a peep when you weren't here.
Just like a kid, only act up in front of the parents!!!

Bev, I'm glad to hear that Casey is doing much better. You must have been so worried about her, but it's good that you took her to the vet to get her evaluated!
How funny that she screamed at you when you went to get her from the vet's! Silly girl. Trying to milk mommy! LOL.

Bev im so glad Casey is better,
It so hard when pets are sick and they cant tell you whats wrong.

Thats so funny that Casey only screams with you around. My chi's are little monkeys too and always act up in front of me because they know that gets my attention http://pages.prodigy.net/indianahawkeye/newpage12/1.gif

She had a gastric bug probably due to people food. Bad Bad humans.

That sounds a lot like how Heuser acts when he has gastritois from beef protein...He has had issues with almost all beef and some chicken dog foods since he was a puppy because the protein is too rich for his system and causes gas bubbles in his intestines...He has had 4 episodes where he screams and cries and is a total baby when it happens and even though I know what it is now, I still FREAK out and call the emergancy vet no matter what time it is to make sure cause he acts like it is so terrible! So we sure do feel sorry for poor Casey! I'm glad to hear she is doing alright and it has passed (no pun intended  )!!!

Oh Bev!!!! I am so sorry that Casey had a horrible experience, though she probably wouldn't blame it on people food and want more if given. I am so glad that she is better now thank goodness!! I wish we could have been here for ya.

Oh gosh, Bev, I'm so sorry! How's little Casey now? I hope she's much better now. I know the scream you're talking about because when Roman was so sick with his vaccine reaction, he screamed all the way to the vet and shut up as we pulled in their driveway. I was telling him, well scream for the vet now, baby! "You're here and we woke up the doctor at 2 am, so scream away!"

When we got in the door, I said, "Really, he was so sick for the 1 1/2 hour drive there."

The vet saw he was sick all right, gave him a shot and we came home.

Aren't they monkey's!

I think she's fine now she will play and run a bit.
She has a shaved patch on her little neck poor thing.
She seems to be colder than usual shivering more. But she does know how to get me to stick her under my shirt and carry her around the house.
She screamed again when I went to pick her up with a cold hand so she does use that NOISE to her advantage.
The no people food rule is sooo hard!! Thanks for the wishes I knew ya'll were with me!

Its good to hear that Casey is feeling better.

I could tell you a million monkey stories about my 3 chi's using that NOISE to their advantage LOL, and they all have different noises too so you know who it is thats making the noise.

I like how you carry Casey around under your shirt, Pascha likes me to do that with her, she will fall asleep when I do it then when she is asleep I will put her on the couch and she wakes up and demands that I pick her up again - she has me wrapped around her paw !!

I'm so glad to hear Casey's continuing on the mend. Your original post saying she was sick was one of the last post subscriptions I received and I never got to see what was wrong. I was told by email what was wrong and then I passed the word on about Casey to a couple more people, so she was being thought of all that time. :) :hearts: Barb

H&T went for their shots yesterday and then stayed with one of the girls I work with in the office while I walked some dogs...She said they were fine the WHOLE time I was gone and she picked them both up, but as SOON as I walked in the door, Heuser started screaming EVERY time I touched him or tried to see what was wrong!!! Then, he hid under a chair and would NOT come out to me!!! He was like, "Okay, mommy's here, now I can let them know I don't feel good and my shot sites hurt really bad!" Poor kiddo! He's fine now, just needed some sympathy!

Whew! That would have worried me to death! I'm so glad Casey is well again. Do you know what it was she ate?

Hey

Casey was always begging for a bit of everything. So she was used to getting little nips of things. Nothing too big. Nothing out of the ordinary and we know that she is really sensitive to grease so that was already eliminated........but today
one of my little baby friends was feeding her soy nuts.........It turns out this little bunny likes to feed Casey and I later caught her giving Casey HUGE chunks of cucumber. So I have a feeling she's been slipping her treats all along.
She ( the baby) is only 1 and is delighted when Casey accepts her food and somehow she has also caught on (baby) to making Casey do something for the treat. Like wipe her face - dance etc.........If Casey wants something and you hold back - she will just start wiping or whatever she can remember from her bag of tricks in order to get the treat. Baby knows she does tricks for me Casey knows Baby is a food basket thus was the beginning of a great friendship.......

So to answer your question I don't know what she ate hahaha

Oh my! I am so glad Casey is feeling better. Poor baby
Human food is so tastey but so bad for their little bellies some time!
Its hard not to give in to them. At least all is well now! Isn't it funny how they are just like children? Acting up just with their parents! Silly chi's ....
