Hi everyone,
Im back from Brisbane. I got the flu 2 days before I left home and I only started to get better on the day that I left Brisbane! I was so sick and could hardly get out of bed so I spent most of my time in the hotel room asleep! LOL
The hotel was pretty posh and had an amazing pool ....

I spent a bit of time in this beautiful pool.
It was incredibly hot there, they were having a record heat wave while I was there, The temperature maximum was over always 40 degrees ( 104 F ) everyday that I was there, and the humidity was always over 80%. They were having power blackouts because of the heat so not all airconditioners worked. Stephan and I did a bit of clothes shopping on my last day there and met a reality TV star in the mall. Now im back in Perth where the weather is perfect. I dont think I will go back to Brisbane this time of year again. I have been there before during winter and its a beautiful place.
I missed my chi's so much and thought about them constantly, they are so happy to see me today. I missed everyone here and their chi's too, and it looks like I have a lot of catching up to do, so many new posts....

Well at least you got to be sick in a really fantastic location. I would have gotten sick anyway once I got there if it was that hot and humid.

What is normal weather for Perth?

Welcome back! I'm sure your babies are thrilled that you are home again! Who did they stay with?

Your hotel looks really pretty! Hope you had fun despite not feeling 100%.

What a bummer that you were sick Terri!!! And it sounds like it was SO hot!!!

I have found that my favorite thing about going on vacation is coming home to my chihuahua-hahaha!!!

Glad you feel better now and the hotel looked really nice!

I did have fun even though I was sick, but the best part was coming home to my chi's, I hope everyone else that was sick is feeling better
:D

My chi's stayed at home and I had some friends that the chi's know well come over twice a day to feed and play with them. Pascha and Busty were fine but Nini freaked out a bit and refused to eat anything. I wish that hotels were more accepting of pets then I could take them along but there is 3 of them so I cant. I have a holiday booked for August and dont know what to do about Nini, If anyone has any tips I would love to hear them...

Hii Terri, I hope you're feeling better. What a drag to be sick on holiday, and this looks like a place where you could have a good time. Do they have live entertainment there? Nice large pool too! Wow! What a place! I've never stayed in a hotel like that. I tend to lean towards less people, but would have the time of my life if I went to a place like this.

Hi Terri

I feel bad you had the flu in Brisbane. I had a very low grade flu that has me feeling down and really slow.
I hope this passes soon I feel OLD.

aw! I know how that feels to have pups who only want you. I don't really had any sollutions for you, but here's what we went through.

We took Sheba with us on a trip and boarded her close to where we stayed (by my sister's house) Then at least we were not gone so long from her and we were able to see her in travel. But it didn't really go well...

Here's something not to do... Sheba was like Nini when we had to board her when I went to Portland, Oregon to visit my big sis. Sheba was two years old and I knew she wouldn't eat, so I left a pack of bologna and some cream cheese for treats in case she didn't want to eat. I left instruction with how much to feed her and when to. Don't do this! LOL They forgot she had the treats and fed her the pound of bologna and the 8 ounces of cream cheese the morning we picked her up for the 8 hours ride home! Poor Sheba had terrible diarreah the entire way home. This was a highly reccomended upscale dog resort in the area with piped in music, play time, love time, the works. She had a lot of back end sponge baths on the way home. :(

Also, we've learned to say we have one dog, not two when necessary at Motels where there is not a lobby to walk through and take one dog at a time. Some places only allow one. Sneaking Sheba in to a fancy motel was way too stressful for us and her. I had to carry her like a baby wrapped in a blanket down the elevator, passed the front desk and the lady. Then only to find out her bright new, neon pink 6 foot leash was dragging behind me all the way. I'm sure the lady thought that's some active baby! haha

I think Nini is still better off at home with your friends coming to visit and feed. If she doesn't have health problems, I've heard it doesn't hurt them to miss maels for a while as long as they drink water. :?

OMG Barb that's terrible! And the second half of the story about sneaking Sheba in had me rolling! I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time though. Yikes, I can't believe they give Sheba the "treats" for an entire meal! What were they thinking???!!! Poor girl.

Terri,

I know the feeling, I discovered when we went to Washington, DC over Thanksgiving break that Hercules couldn't be left alone. We even left him with a friend who he knows very well and he likes her dog, Ginger! Well, right after I walked out the door Hercules turned into a totally different chi! Shaking, peeing, wouldn't play, snapped at people! So now he's going with me to Florida in March! I just hope he behaves himself at my Dad's house, don't want my Dad throwing us both out of there new home!

Poor Sheba and the treats!

Renata I remember you posting about Hercules and how he was upset when you went away.

Im glad its just not me that has this problem.
Its so hard to know how to handle it. I wish that the chi's could talk then I could tell them not to worry and that we are coming back home. Im sure Nini thinks we have deserted him and wont be coming back.

I want them to stay at home because on our next holiday we are staying at my sister-in-laws and she has 2 big dogs and pascha isnt good with any other dog that is bigger than her, also my chi's dont like to be apart from each other - there is 3 of them so Im going to have trouble sneaking them into a hotel, and I havnt even found one hotel in the area that allows one dog. I think that they would be better off at home where things are familiar.... but in the meantime I will still be searching for somewhere to stay that takes dogs... I still have 5 months to find somewhere!
