CRYSTAL, what in the world is that freaking thing doing in your house.
How BIG is it. What is it called. It looks big enough to eat Britney up in one bite.
Tell us more.

It's very real...or could be. Look at the size of the screw on the wall. I've seen them that big and really bigger. The biggest ones I've seen are 6'' long.
Also, we rented our house to some Navy guys and they had a home tape of a Dad taking one off of the house in Flordia near Kissimee, FLA.
We have some about that big here in the Redwoods too, Just sleep with a net over your face if you visit here...you'll be just fine in the morning. LOL You really get used to them when there are so many spiders jumping on you all night. It's like they get to know you and just want to keep warm in your bed like a little Chihuahua. lol hehe
Seriously, there are some mighty big spiders! I've had times in my life, I'd wake up and say, "Oh darn, another spider bit me on the eyelid last night." My eyelid would be all red and swollen shut.

oh my god!! i have spider phobia, i absolutely detest them! when we lived in cali we saw lots of black widows and you can have people spray forever and they still are around...and in tennessee it was more brown recluse lurking around with occasional black widows...well this is why we do not want to live in a warm climate (west/south) again!! oooh..i have the heebie jeebie and noew you got me thinking of snakes too..yikes!!
OMG!!!!
Do you know that I LITERALLY jumped away from the computer and off my chair when I scrolled down to that second pic!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a MAJOR phobia of spiders, I mean I cry!!!! That is admitting a lot b/c I try not to me scared of most things at all but do NOT like bugs and ESPECIALLY SPIDERS!!!!!! Gage was laughing at me by the way!!! He asked me what happened when I jumped off my chair!!!!

Yikes Barb! I don't know if I'd be able to get used to spiders that big! Eeek. I haven't even seen very big spiders before, maybe just those ones with the long skinny skinny legs that do a little wiggly thing. But that's about it for me.

I have a real fear of rats I cant watch movies about rats because I dream about them, i dont like hamsters or ferrets or any thing that reminds me of a rat. One of my daughters brought a ferret home and said she was watching it for a friend till they got back from a trip , she lied they gave it to her she had it in her bath room and when i went in her room it got out I was hanging upside down off her bunkbed screaming she gave it back to her friend the same day.

HA HA HA  Sandy! haha :D That's so funny! LOL :D We had to leave home for a month and take care of my Dad when he had his back surgery. While we were gone, a rat moved in to our house. He chewed a hole in our living room wall right through the sheet rock. The hole was so big we had to stuff a tennis ball in it to keep any more from coming in! But the funny thing was, when we moved back home, the rat would come down the hall and just look at me and wonder who was in his bed! Then he'd quietly walk back into the living room. If I got up at 3 am, he'd still come in and look at me like I was in his home. LOL We got rid of him REAL fast!

Thats a Huntsman spider. Its not a threat to humans, if you are unlucky enough for it to bite you then you will just get some swelling.
There are only two deadly spiders that I know of in Australia. One is the funnel web and its only really found near Sydney so I dont have to worry about that one. There is another deadly spider that is everywhere in Australia that is the red back and if your bitten its fatal. Here is a pic of one:

They are actually very small.

Yay Terri! I figured you'd know what kind of spider that was. That black and red one does look like it could be fatal! That's scary! So, if you see them do you smash them?? Or are they okay just as long as you don't bother them?

If I saw one near my house I would kill it then get some bug killer and spray the area. I take no chances when having small dogs around.
Do you have fatal spiders where you are?
