I usually decorate just as much for Easter as I do Christmas. I love to mainly because it's the beginning of Spring, and the Easter eggs, baby chicks and bunnies represent the start of the new fresh Spring season.

I have a little white wire tree that I hang wooden eggs and rabbits on, I love Easter Grass, baskets and the rabbits, not to mention the candy. It's a good thing too, because whenever friends have seen how many rabbits I have, they always give me another one...they multiply, well, sort of like rabbits and have enough to last a lifetime.

I have other decorations, but I'm wonder what you all do, since I'm always looking for new fun things to do.

I also thought it would be fun to share any good memories of Easter as a child or anytime, or any Spring celebration you do besides Easter.
We have an annual kite festival here as well as a Rhoderdendron Parade. :D

This is a great post Barb!

I love Easter too and have been lucky enough to have my birthday on Easter a couple of times!!!

Growing up, we always walked the 2 blocks to our church for sunrise service and then launched balloons to see how far they would go (we attached little cards to them with the church's phone # and each week our pastor would report on where the calls came from...Then, we would stick around for an Easter breakfast and my dad would magically disappear to "meet" the Easter Bunny back at our house to let him in the house to hide our baskets and help hide the eggs in the yard. After that, we would pack up and go over to my Grandma and Grandpa's house for ANOTHER Easter Egg and Basket hunt and Easter dinner!!!

Now, our family goes to my aunt and uncle's (it so not fun!) and the chihuahuas aren't welcome (Heuser was but two is just too many with my Uncle's severe allergies) so we are going to Matt's family's instead. Plus, Chicago is too far to drive and too expensive to fly home for just the weekend and St. Louis is only 3 1/2 hours away.

I LOVE having the excuse to dress in pastels, purples, pinks, etc. and the chocolate isn't that bad either!!!

That is so cute that you are an easter-holic Barb! That is so sweet! Sorry I don't have any original ideas for you!
LOL,
Lys

Wow Barb, that's great that you decorate so much on easter. I think maybe this year we'll decorate too, that way I can leave up the easter decorations til Halloween! Ya know, since I've still got my xmas tree up and all. LOL.
Lys, I hope you have a good time at Matt's family's house. ;) So will the puppers be able to go with you and Matt?
Nothing special around here, but I like to color eggs and hunt for them myself. LOL.

I love Easter time! I always remember growing up getting a special outfit for church and having a big lunch, getting a special Easter basket of goodies, then going outside to Easter Egg hunt.

Last year I filled over 100 eggs for the boys with candy, but we had to hunt inside of the inlaws house due to rain. This year I'm not sure if we have the boys, but even if we do I doubt that I do the candy thing. They were bouncing off the walls something horrible, and they are usually a really hyper bunch anyways. Plus since they are young, the candy was everywhere. It was a huge mess for my mother-in-law! Thank goodness Spencer has a carpet cleaning company!

my mom use to put money inside the eggs..like maybe 7 of them with like 3 pennies in them..then a couple with dimes, then a couple with quarters..then she would hide a special one with a 5 dollar bill in it....so maybe you could do that with the boys this year Hercules Mom...but make sure to hide 2 eggs with a 5 dollar bill so its fair...i'd have them search other parts of the house so one don't get both special eggs....i was an only child so it didn't matter..

Jenjen-Yep! of course the doggies will be there! I have to find/start on some special Easter scrunchies for them to wear, lol!!!

Sharon-I totally forgot about the $ in plastic eggs! My aunt started to do that 2 years ago because it was the only way to get the "big" kids to participate!!! This year, she upped the anty and put a $20 in 2 of the eggs along with eggs that had a nickel, dime, quarter, $1, or $5...She didn't have to ask me twice if I would look!!! HA! Of course, my sister and my cousin Meghan always seem to have the best luck and out of like $60 of eggs and 5 cousins, they had $50!!! I think it was rigged!

Renata-that is so funny about getting the boys getting totally hyper from all the candy! HA! We used to get special outfits too and all I can remember is that besides a dress, we got new hats and a matching set of WHITE patent leather shoes and purse!!!

My grandma started making my grandpa write down where he hid the hard boiled eggs a few years ago because EVERY year around Christmas when she was pulling apart everything and cleaning the house, she'd find a nasty, stinky, egg from the Easter the year before!!!

I guess to be honest I haven't really celebrated Easter in the traditional way since I was a kid. For a long time the only great memories as a child were when I went to my great grandma and grandpa's house with all my family. They always hid the eggs, did the Easter bunny thing and all, it was always so fun, then they had both passed on and I think that that touched me a lot when I was younger. So I haven't done much but would like to get into it again. I don't have children though but find it so much more fun with kids around. Maybe I will take my little cousin on an Easter egg hunt and decorate eggs with him this year.
Thanks for putting the thought in my head Barb!!! :D
