Bald Spot

Ok.. Hercules has always had a little bald spot on either side of his ears. There is very little hair there, he hasn't ever had a rash or anything there, but I've had several people comment that he's bald there.. Is this normal? Does anyone else's baby have thin fur by their ears?

Hey Renata, is that how his bald spot looks from all angles, or was that just a good one to show where the bald spot is? Abarenbo has a bald spot, well not really bald, but more like a spacey hair area. And I think it's from Alana always putting her mouth on him, or her paws on him. Maybe it's Palmer the cat that's making Herc bald! LOL.

If I was patient enough to post a pic I would but... It is totally normal for chis to loose their hair in that spot! Rico has moved beyond that but according to the vet and his breeder hair loss on the head is completely normal...just look out.watch to see if it spreads anywhere else! Rico lost hair on his head, tail stomach and now his legs

It looks like the "bald" spots by Herc's ears are completely normal and most smooth chis have sparser hair in that area-his is probably more noticible because of his dark color (the light skin shows through) and his coat type (he is a sleek, single layered smooth vs. chis like Heuser who have a double coat) so unless he starts lossing hair in other areas, I wouldn't worry about it. The AKC standard states that in smooths, "Coat placed well over body with ruff on neck preferred, and more scanty on head and ears."

Aww! :wub: Cute photo of Hercules. :wub: I've read it's normal. :) Roman's hair on part of his neck is sparse and I was worried about it a few months ago-common and normal. :D Some have even less than Roman. It's just normal. :wub:

Little Head has alittle baldness on by her ears as well...but it's because she had a rash.

Thanks ya'll.. It's always been sparse in that area.. there is hair there, but it's very light. Same with under his neck. It's so soft... Spencer says that's his favorite place to kiss Hercules cause it's so soft. :wub:
