Welcome Locket's Mom! How is she doing? When I brought Elle home, she learned how to use the pads just fine. However, a few times I had spread a blanket down for her to play on, or when I was basting a quilt ;-) She thought she was being a good girl by going on the "the big potty pad." ha ha So for a while, just pick up the bags, pillows, newspapers, etc., and she will soon learn where her spot is. Also, are you moving her potty pad spot, or leaving it in the same spot? I found Elle became fixed on not only the potty pad, but also the location. After she had it down, I gradually moved it to where I wanted it, little by little each day. When I saw her miss the potty pad, I ran to her and placed her in the middle of the pad, even if she had already gone. I always praised her by saying , "Good girl" when she hit the pad. -I love her name Locket!

Hi
I too love her name!

Casey goes in our bathroom, on a piddle pad, inside a litter box. Oddly she goes everytime I do. After, we give her a treat with a big lovey hug. Sometimes after a warm stretch of weather when she's gone outside a lot, she makes a mistake but it's a pretty good system. She will use it when we are not home also.
Spay my advise too.....

Hi Locket's Mom, Welcome to Club Chi. Right now I have one chi who is trained to go on pee pads because we live in an apartment building. Having one location is important and big kisses and a treat whenever Locket is successful will do the trick. I still make a big happy fuss when my chi makes a pee or a poop on the pad and she is 6 yrs old now. When she sees me picking up the poops she knows she will get a treat.

Love the name, waiting for pics.

Hi Locket's Mom, Don't be scared about having Locket spayed. When you get her spayed, make a post in the Health forum that day, or the day before. Most of us have been there, so we will be here for you to keep you assured. There is really nothing to worry about (although we all do. ha ha). Elle didn't need pain meds, did fine and slept the day we brought her home. The next day, we had to keep her quiet because she felt so good, she forgot she had gone through surgery. :) The hardest part for me was not having her with me for that night and missing her cuddle me.

Bev, do you use just a regular cat-sized litter pan? Do you ever find it to be too small for Casey?

Welcome to the Group!
Can't wait to hear more about Locket and to see a picture.
Pee Pee pads works for me.. I also have one using a litter box and pee pads. We get all excited at my house when they use the box or pad... that way they know they are doing it right and feel special cause they know they pleased you.
