So I'm experimenting with H&T's food again and since I can't completely switch them to the BARF diet due to constant travel to dog foods, etc. without a way to keep it frozen until feeding time, I have found another allernative that is cheaper and easier...I'm not sure of its brand name, but I got a sample of raw patties from the natural dog food store that are great for my little ones-the are a version of BARF, but ground up and shaped into tiny "hamburger" patties that are individually wrapped, then frozen...So far, the kiddos scarf them up and have not had any problems digesting it-I give them each a 1/4 patty per meal (2x a day) and they are already pooping less with firmer, smaller stools...I take them out of the freezer and pop them in a lukewarm bowl of water for a little while and they are all ready to go-plus the indivdual size means I can toss a few in a small cooler full of ice and easily bring them with on road trips, etc...I'll find out the brand tomorrow when I go to get more since these were just to try...

Oh, please do! Now I'm excited to know what they're called. I wonder if the pet store near my house carries it? I guess I'll have to wait and find out!

Sorry! work was crazy today and I didn't get a chance to swing by the shop, but I'll post the name as soon as I do tomorrow (or maybe Wednesday with the way this week is going!)

Hi Lys,
It sounds like what is available in Australia on the east coast. People are going crazy over it and its so hard to get it because its sold as fast as its made. Its too bad that I live on the west coast cause I would love to give it too my chi's. Its sounds so much easier to buy in ready made patties than to have to make it up every time.
A few chihuahua breeders that I have talked to that are using the patties say that its the best and coats are amazing.

That's what I heard too and I was talking to a pekenese breeder tonight at conformation class and she feeds her dogs the same patties and swears by them! They are really expensive though-like $10 (USA) a package of 10 or something like that-so we'll be able to afford it if we just stick to 2 chihuahuas for a while, lol!
I'll find out the name tomorrow...

Do you give them any thing else with the patties?

Do you give them any thing else with the patties?
Yes, I do Sandy since I can't go the full RAW diet with them due to travel and cost. I have them on a mixture of Wellness, Innova, Solid Gold, and Bil Jac dry food and any of the 5 protein varieties of Wellness canned food. I feed them twice a day (10 am and 8pm) and mix 1/4 of a patty in with their food at each meal-totaling a half patty per each dog per day.
