Hi Folks...could you answer a question for me? When all the new/up-dated board soft ware was installed....did everyone lose the amount of posts we made from the old boards....like totally starting over?? Oh I wish I had *someone* to literally *SHOW* me more computer stuff :cry2: Like what all the buttons above do. I'm not good in computer 'lingo'
I'll put it this way...when I got my iMac it was given to me with a card on it that said "Have Fun" At that time to today *EVERY THING* I know about computers was self-taught....with not any kind of help...I never even touched a computer before I was given this iMac....I am disabled and don't get out much  so I wish *SOMEDAY* someone whose very good about computers came to my home for several days and show me more things about iMacs and how to be able to learn more :? I *KNOW* this computer has a *LOT* of things I don't know about that it can do. Do *any* of y'all have suggestions of I could learn more?? I can't drive.

Hi Anne, Yeah, we all lost our number of posts. I was around 6,000. LOL

I'm self taught too. I haven't taken the time to to try out the things above, but if you have a question, I'm sure anyone will answer a specific question sooner or later. :) I found a magazine type book for my windows XP at the grocery store, and I just looked online for you and found iMac site. Maybe it's a little help for you? There's things listed along the top, and one says discussion and a place to post questions. Maybe this will help a little? :) I know what you mean though, about these computers having a lot of capabilities...I just try and take one thing at a time. I think you know so much about the computer...all your photos and all. Just keep playing with the things here, ie bold, italics, if that's the list of things you mean?
Oh, so here's that site I found for you...hope it can help a little. :D

Hey Anne! I know there are a bunch of different books and programs you can get that teach you different things you can do with you Mac, doing some research online will help you figure out which you are interested in and you can save up to get. Also, I am taking a class through the community college (I go to the school itself but they offer online classes too) for desktop publishing (all done on Macs) and I can't believe how much neat stuff I can do already! The classes are pretty reasonable and we are on a very strict budget like you so it took a few months of saving but so far I think it was worth it-the only down side is that is will take me more than a few more months of saving to buy the programs for myself now that I know how to use them!!! Good luck and have fun with it!

You mean they can teach people *on-line*?? The thing is is that I need to go right to the very basics....I don't even know what 'desktop publishing' means. Do they have on-line classes from the very begining??

Yeah, they have all sorts of different classes for all skill levels...Desktop publishing is just a class that focuses on programs like Illustrator, photoshop and quarkexpress-all for use in the magazine industry and there are used in the publishing industry...
