There is no image attachment feature at this time, I'm working on it though.

We had to switch forum software because the one you're used to wants ridiculous amounts of money now. I could install the older version, but I'd like to get away from their software after what they've pulled.

Sharon I don't think phpbb allows you to post pictures directly from your computer. If you want to show a picture it has to have a web address where you can view it. And it can't be attached in a mail or anything with security/passwords.

In the end, it is more than free for me, in fact I owe you guys more! Although at times I may appear a bit distant, I'm never far away. Work's got me so tied down lately, but I always manage to peek in on things and crack a few smiles.

It's the same as before (in your profile), I may have to adjust the allowed filesize.

I believe it's currently set at max 80x80 pixels with a max filesize of 9kb .. I'll have to double check.

I'll up the max size, but I don't want to go too much more than 80 pixels (width/height) because that may cause some display problems with those on lower resolution monitors.

I hope that you do get enrichment from the board rather than too many headaches :roll: It is hard to describe how much I enjoy the forum and the wonderful chi-people I have met here.

Yes, you can do that and there's no size limit when it's called from another server :)

Thanks from me too Aric, I have another question about Avatars: do they have to be .jpg ? can they be .gif ? Im wanting to put two alternating small pics for my avatar. Would their size have to add up to the max file size or can they each be the max file size?

how did you get the changing pictures?There is a program that comes with Photoshop called Image Ready and you can make animated gifs in it. Its the first time I have made one with just photo's and I think its just a fluke that it worked out.

IMHO, may I make a suggestion about your avatar. I love that you put the rotating pics together (I would like to do that too) but they seem to go by too fast. Is there a way to slow them down a little? Besides wanting to see the pics better, the fast rotation makes me queasy. :oops:

There are a few ways but the easiest way I know is:

In Photoshop make sure all the pics are the same size and the correct size for your avatar. Then put all the photo's that you want to use in the same folder with no other pics in there (make a new folder if you have to).

Now switch to Image Ready,
Click on File, then choose Import, and then choose Folder as frames. Select your folder.
There should be a box with your pics in it all in a row. The default setting is zero meaning the pics will change very fast, so where the number is below each picture you need to click on the arrow next to the pic to change the time each picture will appear on the screen. You need to change the number on each picture. I have mine set to 5 seconds at the moment and its seems to do the trick.
When you are happy with what you have choosen you can press the play button to have a preveiw of what it looks like.
If its all good then its time to save it as a .gif
To do this click on File, then choose Save optimized as, then you can name it but remember to use .gif NOT .jpg.
and thats it now you can upload it.

Good luck with it and have fun.
Im using Photoshop version 6 and Image Ready version 3.
If you have any trouble with it, you can email me the pics and I can do it for you.

I finally found my way back and so nice to visit with all again. First and foremost I would like to thank Aric for his kindness and patience to get me back again. It was a matter of emailing and testing my memory which so bad. Now I remember that my username was Willow but Honnee will do just fine. That is what the grandsons have called me (Gramma Honnee) for many years. There is a nice story that comes with the name as well and I shall share with all someday. My Chi "SCAMPI" is just fine and when I get settled here again I shall make an avatar and send along some pictures. :dance: I do recognize a lot of names and see a lot of new names. Imagine my shock when I tuned in one day to see all is different and I am just not a different person.I like the same old, same old day after day and this kind of shook me up when I could not get registered and do the discussion info.
